Job summary

Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking an Addiction Psychiatrist to deliver trauma‑informed outpatient psychiatric care and MAT for underserved populations. You will work with primary care and behavioral health teams in an integrated care setting, providing supervision to nurse practitioners and leading initiatives across outpatient programs.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN).
• Unrestricted Georgia medical license or eligibility.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
• MAT certification or experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for adults.
• Deliver trauma-informed care to individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders.
• Manage Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including buprenorphine and naltrexone.

Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a compassionate and experienced Addiction Psychiatrist to provide trauma-informed outpatient psychiatric care and medication management for underserved and vulnerable populations. This physician will play a key role in delivering integrated behavioral health services, supporting patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and advancing Mercy Care's mission of providing exceptional care to all, regardless of income or circumstance.

What You Will Do

• Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for adult patients.
• Deliver trauma-informed care to individuals experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders.
• Manage Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine and naltrexone therapies.
• Collaborate closely with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, and interdisciplinary care teams in an integrated care setting.
• Provide consultation, mentorship, and clinical guidance to psychiatric and primary care nurse practitioners.
• Support outpatient behavioral health and substance use treatment programs through clinical leadership and administrative oversight as needed.
• Participate in community outreach activities, health fairs, and special events throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
• Unrestricted Georgia medical license or eligibility to obtain.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program.
• Minimum one year of experience serving disadvantaged or special-needs populations.
• Certification in Addiction Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, or demonstrated expertise with MAT strongly preferred.
• Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in a multidisciplinary setting.
