Job summary

Valeo is seeking an Application Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience in active safety and driver assistance technologies at our Troy and Auburn Hills, MI locations. You will assist with vehicle testing, data analysis, and sensor integration while collaborating with global engineering teams.

This year-round internship targets current students or recent graduates who are eager to contribute to safety-focused automotive innovation.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field OR Recent Graduate.
Fundamental understanding of mechanical principles (static/dynamic forces) and basic vehicle dynamics.
Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and solid written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Vehicle Testing & Validation: Assist with active safety testing on test tracks and setup test environments for project vehicles.
Requirements & Data Analysis: Support the team in reviewing system requirements, creating basic test cases, and performing log/trace analysis using standard industry tools.
Component & Vehicle Integration: Learn how sensors (ultrasonic, cameras) integrate into vehicles by shadow-reviewing mechanical packaging and assisting with ECU flashing and calibration setup.
Documentation & Coordination: Help draft test specifications, test reports, and configuration sheets while collaborating with domestic and global engineering teams.
