Job summary

CAEtech is seeking an ADAS Test Engineer – Vehicle Systems for a full-time contract position based in Troy, Michigan. You will support vehicle-level testing, issue investigation and resolution for advanced driver assistance systems, including CAN network analysis, test automation and cross-functional communication with internal engineers and customers.

The role combines hands-on vehicle testing on private and public roads, system-level troubleshooting and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or automotive-related field.
• 2+ years in ADAS or vehicle-system development preferred.
• Experience with CAN networks and automotive testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate issues identified during vehicle-level system testing and triage ownership to the appropriate engineering function for resolution.
• Investigate and summarize issues encountered during vehicle preparation and testing.
• Coordinate issue resolution with internal engineering teams and external customers.
• Review system designs to support effective issue analysis and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate test-case design to ensure alignment with system requirements.
• Support automation for identifying potential issues during vehicle-system testing.
• Review and improve vehicle test instrumentation.
• Analyze common failure patterns and identify potential process deficiencies during product development.
• Review test data and associated data-processing scripts.
• Support structured issue documentation and communication throughout the troubleshooting and resolution process.

Job description

CAEtech is seeking an ADAS Test Engineer – Vehicle Systems to support vehicle-level testing, issue investigation and resolution for advanced driver assistance systems. This is a full-time contract position with benefits based in Troy, Michigan, with an ongoing assignment duration.

The engineer will evaluate issues identified during vehicle-system testing, analyze test results, triage issues to the appropriate engineering teams, and coordinate with internal engineers and external customers to drive problems toward resolution. The position combines hands-on vehicle testing, CAN network analysis, system-level troubleshooting, test automation and technical communication.

This position includes hands-on vehicle testing and requires operation of test vehicles on private and public roads. A valid driver’s license is required.

• Basic knowledge of vehicle components and ADAS systems.
• Scripting experience with MATLAB and Python.
• Strong logical and cause-and-effect troubleshooting skills.
• Strong technical communication and presentation capabilities.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehicles on private and public roads.

Skills Preferred

• Knowledge of common vehicle sensors, including radar and cameras.
• Knowledge of signal processing and vehicle dynamics.
• Knowledge of automotive Ethernet and LIN communication protocols.
• Experience with CANoe.
• Experience debugging embedded software.
• Understanding of C++ and Simulink.
• Experience developing or reviewing requirements and test cases.
• Experience with issue-tracking systems such as Jira.
• Understanding of automotive product-development processes and responsibilities.
• Knowledge of functional safety.
• Prior issue-triage and debugging experience.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another automotive-related field.

Experience Preferred

• 2+ years of experience in ADAS system development.
• Prior experience with vehicle-system issue triage, debugging or test-related problem resolution.
