Job summary

Cognizant in Dearborn, Michigan is seeking an ADAS Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership across the delivery cycle for ADAS features. You will own system design, translate business needs into technical specs, and work with product owners to ensure customer and business value.

The role involves collaboration across teams, documenting architecture, and validating requirements while ensuring safety and security considerations are addressed, all within an Agile framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or equivalent degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering.
• 3+ years of experience delivering products embedded with software development and/or Systems engineering.
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with complex systems.
• Working knowledge of wireless, automotive, or consumer electronics systems.
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
• 3+ years experience in software or systems development and 3+ years in ADAS/automotive or consumer electronics.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction by translating business needs to technical feature requirements and creating a spec to guide downstream development/testing.
• Own the System Design and define the architecture by decomposing requirements into component responsibilities and defining integration points between components/nodes.
• Perform test activities on early bring-up, prototype proofing, support incremental sprint deliveries.
• Sign-off on test plan correctness and completeness (demonstrating ultimate accountability for the delivery).
• Triaging issues and supporting downstream team: conformance testers, system testers, service testers, field deployments, etc.
• Ensuring FMEA, Functional Safety, Security requirements have been met as appropriate.

Job Title: ADAS Systems Engineer

Location: Dearborn, Michigan

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide technical leadership in the delivery of ADAS features including all aspects of the delivery cycle (behavior and performance in the field, executing the Plan of Record, and supporting the planned capabilities on the roadmap)
• Accountability in feature delivery and execution partnering with Product Owners (that own feature definition/justification re: customer experience and business value)
• Ideate and evaluate technical deployment options for new and enhanced ADAS features
• Establish and document initial architectural and design assumptions
• Work closely with feature owner to insure customer and business requirements are met and iterate with stakeholders to arrive at most optimum technical deployment assumptions
• Understand current foundational capabilities of system and leverage them effectively to minimize development cost and time
• Perform initial failure mode analysis to insure system is robust to obvious scenarios

What you need for this position:

Required:

• Bachelor or equivalent degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering
• 3+ years of experience delivering products embedded with software development and/or Systems engineering
• Demonstrated experience in dealing with complex systems
• Working knowledge of wireless, automotive, or consumer electronics systems
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills
• 3 Years experience in Software or Systems technical development3 Years experience in ADAS, automotive, or consumer electronics systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of system engineering process, methods, and tools

Preferred:

• Knowledge of and exposure to a breadth of areas across the ADAS ecosystem is an asset
• Strong written/verbal Communication skills to foster and drive a collaborative development model encompassing development and test engineers, project managers and other key stakeholders.
• Familiarity with automotive industry standards
• Experience with Jira or another defect management system
