Job summary

Ford’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team is seeking forward-thinking professionals to develop breakthrough ADAS features and experiences that enhance driving safety and enjoyment. You will collaborate across design, hardware, software, and test teams to deliver robust, production-ready functionality.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in ADAS, strong leadership, and experience with sensors (radar, camera, LIDAR).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems, Computer Engineering or related degree.
• 3+ years of experience in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors and/or other related vehicle systems.
• 2+ years in system engineering including System V, functional decomposition, design analysis, and requirements development.
• 2+ years leading cross-functional communications to drive ADAS feature from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of feature engineering deliverables including requirements and test procedures.
• Collaborate with design and product teams to realize the ADAS feature experience.
• Work with hardware, software and test teams to ensure requirement alignment.
• Develop vehicle-level use cases and feature-level specifications for production delivery.
• Establish feature objectives and validate through system-level testing.
• Coordinate with Functional Safety engineers on ISO-26262 compliance and risk assessment.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (ECE/UNECE R79, R2144) for features.
• Plan and execute real-world evaluation via vehicle/HIL/virtual testing.
• Drive feature robustness through FMA and advanced validation (HIL/SIL/Vehicle).

We bring engineering ideas to life. In ADAS, we make driving more exciting, enjoyable, and safe. Ford's ADAS team designs and develops features that enhance the driving experience, including BlueCruise, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping System, Traffic Sign Recognition.

We are seeking professionals who can contribute to our efforts with experience and passion in the development of features, functions, sensors, ECUs, models, and software.

What you'll do...

• Lead the development of feature engineering deliverables including Concept, Logical and Technology requirements, Boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, robustness fields and test procedures.
• Collaborate with design and product teams to realize the desired ADAS Feature experience
• Work with Hardware, Software and Test teams to ensure Feature requirements are cascaded, aligned, and accepted.
• Develop and refine vehicle level uses cases, interfaces and feature level specification to ensure production feature delivery.
• Establish Feature objectives and ensure system operation to meet the end-user/customer objectives through a structured system level test methodology
• Work with Functional Safety engineers to develop and refine feature functional safety requirements, item definition, hazard analysis/risk assessment and functional safety concept incompliance with ISO-26262/Ford Functional Safety process.
• Ensure global regulatory compliance (e.g. ECE/UNECE R79, R2144)
• Ensure new features seamlessly integrate with existing features to provide a superb customer experience
• Work with the validation teams to establish test procedures, including CAE simulation, vehicle testing
• Assure that the integration of affected systems meet the requirements for desired feature-level performance
• Support development of Design validation methods to ensure feature robustness across all vehicle environmental conditions and customer usage profiles
• Use data analysis techniques and methods from data generated by track, lab and model-based validation method to ensure feature achieves a desired set of requirements.
• Plan and help execute real-world evaluation of ADAS features via vehicle/HIL/virtual testing and identify system problems/issues
• Support and coordinate root-cause analysis with internal functions and external suppliers to ensure delivered system achieves feature requirements
• Support Sign-off of feature level performance for first vehicle program implementation
• Gather quality history to manage and drive feature quality and improvements (i.e. Data Analytics/VOCF/Launch Feedback/Warranty/External Metrics such as JD Powers).
• Drive feature robustness through Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) and advanced validation (HIL/SIL/Vehicle); lead complex root cause investigations (8D/5-Why) and present technical solutions to enterprise leadership.

You’ll have...

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems, Computer Engineering or related degree
• 3+ years of experience developing in the ADAS domain using radars, cameras, LIDAR, ultrasonic sensors and/or other related vehicle systems (e.g. body, electrical, chassis, powertrain, etc.)
• 2+ years in system engineering including experience with the System V, Functional decomposition, design analysis, Concept, Logical and technology level requirements development, System integration and FMA analysis
• 2+ years leading cross functional communications such as "Feature Owner," leading ad-hoc, multi-disciplinary teams across hardware, software, functional safety, and testing to drive the ADAS feature from concept to production.
• Strong leadership with a passion for quality and customer happiness
• Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal and project management skills
• Ability to work well independently and take initiative
