Job summary

Solterra School, LLC seeks an Adaptive Teacher to lead a classroom for students with significant cognitive, communication, behavioral, and sensory needs. You will deliver individualized instruction aligned to each student's IEP and collaborate with BCBA, RBTs, and Related Services to support growth.

Hours are 8am–3:30pm, on-site, with a competitive salary range of $75,000–$95,000 per year. Virginia teaching license with Special Education endorsement is required; Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field, and active Virginia teaching license with Special Education endorsement.
• Experience working with students with significant or complex disabilities.
• Preferred: Master's in Special Education; adaptive/life-skills or self-contained classroom experience; AAC experience; CPI/de-escalation certification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized, functional instruction aligned to each student's IEP goals, adapting curriculum for significant needs.
• Build a structured classroom using visual supports and AAC.
• Implement behavior support plans in coordination with BCBA/RBTs.
• Embed life skills—self-care, routines, independence—into daily activities.
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom and oversee RBTs/paraprofessionals.
• Collaborate with OT/SLP/behavior team to weave therapy into instruction.
• Keep IEP documentation and progress notes accurate and timely.
• Partner with families to transfer strategies between school and home.
