Job summary

Challenge Aspen is seeking an Adaptive Sports Manager to grow its adaptive cycling program into a sustainable three-season offering. The role leads bike programming year-round and supports winter adaptive ski activities, including equipment management.

It is a full-time, grant-funded one-year contract beginning September 8, with benefits such as health insurance, potential for a 401k, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Recreation Therapy, or related field.
• 3+ years of leadership experience in recreation program management, including instruction, program development, and implementation.
• Understanding of adaptive recreation principles, adaptive equipment, and recreation therapy.
• Experience with disability awareness and inclusive language.
• Strong bike riding skills and passion for the biking community.
• Experience with cycling programs (coaching, guiding, or instruction).
• Mechanical/repair skills with bike mechanic experience or certification.
• Inventory management skills and maintenance planning.
• Project management experience, including growing a program from early stage.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Slack; CRM or database systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and growth of bike program into a three-season offering.
• Identify partnerships to support program growth and inclusion.
• Recruit participants for bike programs and update equipment guidelines.
• Provide training guidelines for new programs.
• Coordinate staff, volunteers, and instructors across seasons.
• Oversee equipment fleet, maintenance, inventory, and storage.
• Represent Challenge Aspen at events and foster community relations.
• Contribute to program policy improvements and innovation.
• Ensure safety standards and best practices in adaptive recreation.
