Job summary

City of Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time instructor to lead adaptive and inclusive recreation activities. You will adapt activities to meet participants where they are, across arts, crafts, fitness, life skills, and special events.

The role supports AIR and Outreach programs, oversees the TREE afterschool initiative for Jr. High students, and participates in occasional events. Flexible schedule; wage is $15.00 per hour, up to 25 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience in instructing recreation programs or interacting with individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Experience with diverse backgrounds preferred.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Instructs, organizes, and implements recreation activities for AIR and Outreach programs.
• Promotes diversity and inclusion within Iowa City.
• Oversees the TREE afterschool program for Jr. High students.
• Assists with department special events and other duties as assigned.
