Job summary

Colonial School District seeks a dedicated paraeducator to support teachers in delivering instruction and to develop safe, enriching experiences for students. The role requires flexibility to cover multiple grade levels and buildings within the district.

The position emphasizes collaboration with school staff, participation in IEP planning, and assisting students with learning activities and self-care tasks, including physical lifting, under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have or be eligible for Title 1 Paraprofessional Permit (ParaPro Exam, Associate's Degree or 60 college credits with C or better).
• Prior classroom experience with students preferred but not required.
• Ability to assist students with positioning and self-care, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must complete Level 1 training by June 1 of the contract year.
• Criminal background check acceptable; no Child Abuse Registry entries.

Responsibilities

• Support in-person and remote student activities according to needs.
• Collaborate with staff and students to reinforce learning materials.
• Assist with IEP implementation and planning when trained.
• Help with safe student movement and maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Prepare materials and organize classroom spaces for daily activities.
• Document routine paperwork related to assigned duties.
• Contribute to behavior management as written in IEP/BIP.
• Participate in parent conferences and IEP meetings as appropriate.
• Assist students in community settings and with related services as demonstrated by therapists.
