Spring Dell Center, Inc. in Charles County, MD, seeks a Movement and Wellness Specialist to design and facilitate engaging activities for adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, promoting movement, wellness, and independence.

The role emphasizes inclusive, accessible programming, collaboration with support teams, and documenting progress, with a 8:00am–4:00pm schedule, full-time status, and an annual salary of $50,232.

Qualifications

• Must have background in movement/therapies with minimum 6 months experience.
• Certified Adaptive Personal Trainer or must be obtained within 3 months of hiring.
• Experience in personal and group sessions (at least 1 year).
• Able to perform physical activities such as lifting, pushing and pulling.
• Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
• Demonstrates time management and dependability.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of adaptive fitness techniques.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Genuine passion for helping others succeed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and facilitate movement and wellness activities reflecting each participant's abilities and goals.
• Lead individual and small-group sessions to encourage participation and healthy routines.
• Modify activities to promote accessibility and meaningful participation.
• Observe and document progress toward movement and wellness goals.
• Reinforce participant achievements to build confidence and motivation.
• Collaborate with support professionals, families, and staff to align wellness goals.
• Create a positive, inclusive environment encouraging skill development and independence.
• Promote wellness through movement, recreation, and community participation.
• Maintain documentation related to activities, involvement, progress, and outcomes.
• Assist with new wellness initiatives and events.
