Job summary

Rhode Island College's Sherlock Center on Disabilities seeks an Adaptive Materials Coordinator to expand access to accessible instructional materials, assistive technology, and inclusive learning opportunities for students from preschool through secondary education. The role designs and adapts curriculum materials and manages a library of braille, large-print, tactile, and other adapted resources.

Reporting to the Associate Director, you will train educators, support hands-on learning events,

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in special education or a related field, or a Bachelor’s with 3–5 years of work/educational experience in schools.
  • Special education teaching certification is required.
  • Experience with special education and/or people with IDD.

Responsibilities

  • Design, support, and oversee the development of materials, library access, and hands-on learning events.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to school personnel on adaptive materials and related technologies.
  • Participate in statewide planning and evaluation of learning opportunities for the disability community.
  • Develop adapted curriculum materials and guidance resources for students with varying abilities.
  • Collaborate with agencies to expand access to an accessible materials library.
