Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools seeks an Exceptional Children Teacher - Adaptive Curriculum at Hunters Creek Middle in Jacksonville, NC. The EC teacher delivers specially designed instruction and manages IEPs for students with significant disabilities in adaptive settings.

You will collaborate with related service providers, families, and nurses to meet educational, behavioral, medical, and social-emotional needs while maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• North Carolina EC teaching license or eligibility.
• Licensure requirements must be maintained.
• Completion of district trainings related to behavior, crisis response, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction aligned with each student's IEP.
• Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs.
• Serves as case manager for assigned students.
• Delivers instruction per NC Extended Content Standards.
• Plans instruction in functional academics, communication, social skills, independent living, and transition.
• Coordinates with related service providers to implement therapy recommendations.
• Implements communication systems, assistive tech, and adaptive materials.
• Supervises instructional assistants in the classroom.
• Maintains student performance data and records.
• Communicates with parents about progress.
