Job summary

BayCare Health System in Tampa is seeking an Acute Physical Therapist Assistant to join our pool/PRN staffing. The PTA will assist in implementing treatment plans, provide therapeutic exercises, and monitor patient progress in an acute care setting.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate’s Degree in Physical Therapy and PTA licensure, BLS, and prefer 1 year of PTA experience. This on-site role at St. Joseph’s Hospital supports a collaborative rehab team and patient-focused care.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Acute Care Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities:

• PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
• Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
• Required Associate's Physical Therapy
• Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
