Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Acute Care Physical Therapist Assistant for the St. Joseph’s South Riverview, FL campus. This Pool/PRN position supports physical therapy services in a hospital setting, delivering prescribed treatment plans and promoting patient mobility and recovery.

The role requires an Associate’s PTA degree, BLS certification, and PTA licensure within 6 months. Experience in acute care is preferred, with strong communication and teamwork essential to care delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• BLS and PTA licensure; PTA licensure within 6 months is required.
• Associates degree in Physical Therapy Assistant required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and ADL mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress; report changes to supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation per hospital standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.
