Job summary

MedStar Health's Washington Hospital Center seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) for Acute Medicine to lead the nursing team and oversee clinical practice, staffing, and patient care delivery for acute medicine units.

The role requires a registered nurse with DC licensure, a Bachelor's in Nursing, and strong leadership in quality and safety initiatives. A Master's degree is preferred, and the position supports the mission and SPIRIT values within MedStar Health.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program is required.
Master's degree in Nursing or health-related field is preferred.
Active RN licensure in the District of Columbia or a compact state is required.
CPR certification for healthcare providers required within 90 days.
Perinatal C-EFM certification required within 12 months for applicable departments.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for the acute Medicine/Surgical unit and ensure high-quality patient care.
Develop department goals, policies, and processes with the Director of Nursing.
Oversee staffing, assignments, acuity, and patient flow to optimize operations.
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and promote safety and quality initiatives.
Engage in recruitment, coaching, and staff development for nursing teams.
