Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a patient care technician (PCT) to join the hemodialysis team in an acute care setting. Under the supervision of an FMCNA RN, you will assist in delivering safe and effective dialysis therapy in accordance with FMCNA policies and regulations.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, monitoring vital signs, assisting with vascular access, documenting treatment parameters, and participating in safety and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required or its equivalent.
• Must have a valid PCT national certification or state specific certification as defined by CMS. All appropriate state licensure, education, and training required.
• 1–2 years’ related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the supervision of the FMCNA RN in the acute setting.
• Set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies as directed by the Fresenius Nurse.
• Welcomes assigned patients and reports concerns to the FMCNA RN.
• Obtain and document vital signs, weight, and treatment parameters.
• Monitor vascular access patency and report unusual findings to FMCNA RN.
• Perform cannulation and intervene as directed by physician orders or FMCNA RN.
• Record dialysis machine programming and ensure safety alarms are enabled.
• Discontinue dialysis treatment per established procedures and document discharge status.
• Other duties as required.
