Job summary

Atrium Health in Concord, NC seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to manage the care of surgical patients in the Acute Care Surgery/Emergency General Surgery setting as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will perform history and physical exams, determine treatment plans, round on pre- and post-operative patients, and assist in laparoscopic and open cases.

The role includes teaching trainees, documenting encounters in the medical record, and upholding Atrium Health’s Core Values, with emphasis

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program.
Eligibility for NC licensure and prescriptive privileges.
BLS and ACLS required; ATLS preferred for acute care.
AGACNP certification for NPs or PA certification required.
Experience in acute care or surgical settings is desirable.

Responsibilities

Performs medical history, physical examinations, routine assessments and determines treatment plan for general surgery and trauma patients.
Independently rounds on pre- and post-operative patients, evaluates inpatient, emergent, and ICU consults, and determines appropriateness for surgery.
First assists in emergency general surgery and elective cases, including laparoscopic and open abdominal procedures.
Train, precept, and mentor APP fellows, medical students, and PA/NP students.
Documents all encounters in the medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
Acts as patient and family advocate and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.
