Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Acute care Physical Therapist to treat adult inpatients across hospital floors, excluding pediatric units. The role involves evaluating patients, developing and adjusting treatments, and coordinating discharge plans within the continuum of care.

The position requires a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, state licensure, and BLS. Strong communication and organizational skills, plus ability to handle varied caseloads, are essential.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school (or equivalent).
• Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of practice (Illinois) with current license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers within 90 days unless exempted by leadership.
• No experience required.
• Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn department software.

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician referrals and perform musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and/or integumentary evaluations.
• Establish a plan of care and deliver individualized treatments; monitor outcomes and adjust as needed; communicate progress to physicians and teammates.
• Plan for discharge, provide home exercise programs, patient/family teaching, and referrals as appropriate.
• Complete all required documentation, billing, scheduling, and maintain productivity per department policy.
• Maintain patient safety and infection control; use modalities and equipment appropriately; assist with safety initiatives.
• Manage caseload, coordinate coverage with site leadership, and assist with department needs.
• May supervise physical therapy assistants and rehab aides, providing direction and ensuring patient care plans are followed.
