Job summary

SMG System Medical Group seeks an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care as part of a multidisciplinary team. The APP assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages patients within their scope, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, adherence to regulatory standards, and supporting clinical, educational, and operational goals of the department and organization.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an RN and APRN in West Virginia.
• BLS certification required with ALS/ACLS training at department discretion.

Responsibilities

• Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as x-ray and POC lab tests.
• Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
• Educates patients about prescribed therapies, growth, development, and health maintenance.
• Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
• Makes diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
• Documents patient data, health history, progress notes and exam results in Meditech EMR.
• Performs injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care and infection management.
• Prescribes therapy or medication electronically when available.
• Educates and coordinates activities with medical assistants during care and treatment.
• Provides emergency support following established policies and procedures.
• Communicates with staff, medical staff and administration for operations.
