Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an APRN in West Virginia.
• Basic Life Support Certification; ALS/ACLS training as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as x-ray and POC lab tests.
• Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
• Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapies, health maintenance, and growth.
• Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
• Makes diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
• Prescribes therapy or medication electronically when available.
• Educates and coordinates activities with the medical assistant during care.
