The position emphasizes evidence-based care, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote positive outcomes within the WVU Health System.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE-accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia.
• BLS required with ALS/ACLS training at department discretion.

Responsibilities

• Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as x-ray and POClab tests.
• Examines patients to obtain information about their physical condition.
• Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed regimens, growth, development, and health maintenance.
• Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
• Makes diagnosis and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
• Obtains, compiles and records patient data using the Meditech EMR.
• Performs therapeutic procedures (injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care).
• Prescribes therapy or medication electronically when available.
• Educates, instructs and coordinates activities with medical assistants during care.
• Provides emergency support following established policies.
• Communicates with staff and administration to support operations.
