Job summary

National Life Group seeks an Associate Actuary to calculate, analyze, and explain reserves for Indexed Universal Life. You will monitor policyholder behavior, profitability, and support GAAP, statutory, and tax reporting. Expertise in PBR and GAAP nuances is essential.

The role emphasizes onsite work four days per week with core days Mon–Thu, and collaboration with Pricing, FP&A, Inforce, Modeling Center of Excellence, and Tax teams.

Qualifications

• FSA or Career ASA with extensive life insurance experience (7–10 yrs)
• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial-related field required
• 5+ years’ actuarial modeling or valuation & financial reporting experience
• Proficiency in actuarial modeling software (PolySystems, MG-ALFA, GGY-AXIS)

Responsibilities

• Perform valuation on Life blocks with focus on Principle-Based Reserves (PBR)
• Conduct experience studies and recommend assumption updates for PBR
• Analyze business trends and reserve movements
• Update PBR annual report and coordinate with auditors/regulators
• Support statutory, GAAP, and tax reporting for reserves and actuarial items
• Communicate GAAP implications to financial reporting teams
• Share insights with Pricing, FP&A, Inforce Management, and Tax teams
