Job summary

John Hancock Life Insurance Company (U.S.A.) in Boston is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for a summer program (June 1 – August 12, 2027). You will gain hands-on experience developing scalable applications and collaborating with engineering teams to deliver customer solutions.

This hybrid internship requires in-office presence Tue–Thu with remote work on Mon and Fri, offering exposure to enterprise technologies, code reviews, and deployment support as part of GRO and the broader Manulife

Qualifications

Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript).
Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Contribute to a team of engineers focused on building scalable, reliable applications.
Support application development, testing, and debugging efforts.
Assist in feature development and system enhancements.
Collaborate with engineering and business teams to build user-focused solutions.
Participate in code reviews and maintain code quality standards.
