Job summary

Highmark Inc. seeks an experienced actuarial leader to manage a staff of actuarial fellows, associates, and candidates. You will oversee pricing, rate development, and policy implementation to help meet financial objectives.

You will guide pricing strategies, reserves, and product viability, collaborating with Product Management, Underwriting, and Sales, while ensuring compliance with regulations and filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Actuarial Science, Mathematics and Statistics
• Minimum 8 years in an actuarial role; 5 years in a management role
• ASA or ACAS designation and pursuing FSA/FCAS; MAAA membership
• Preferred: 10 years in an actuarial role and attainment of FSA/FCAS

Responsibilities

• Oversee actuarial staff and projects; manage hiring/termination, coaching, performance and productivity.
• Oversee rate filings for large/small group, direct pay, or senior products.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Sales and Product Management to develop pricing strategies compliant with filings and regulations.
• Provide advanced support for the claim reserve process.
• Assist Product Management in pricing new products and ensuring financial viability.
• Analyze factors impacting pure premium trends and pricing actions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
