Job summary

Westfield Specialty’s Summer Intern Program is a paid, ten-week opportunity in Chicago, IL, with placement in the Actuary team. Interns will gain hands-on experience, work on meaningful projects, and receive mentorship from senior leaders.

The program runs June 7 to August 13, 2027, offering classroom and on-the-job training, regular learning series, and potential full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
• Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with actuarial analyses supporting pricing initiatives.
• Gather, validate, and analyze large data sets using actuarial and statistical techniques.
• Support the development and maintenance of actuarial models, reports, and dashboards.
• Prepare summaries, presentations, and recommendations based on analytical findings.
• Assist in evaluating trends related to claims, premium, exposure, and profitability.
• Participate in data quality reviews and process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with underwriting, finance, claims, and other business partners to support strategic decision‑making.
• Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks.
• Complete special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
