Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking an Actuarial Data Systems Analyst to deliver technical data support for actuarial financial data systems and marts. You will identify business requirements and assist in providing trend and financial data analyses for Plan divisions, working with SQL-based data sets.

The role involves developing data sets, conducting tests, supporting data refreshes, and creating reports while partnering with senior team members on projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in actuarial data systems or a related field.
• In lieu of degree, 5+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, design, and testing of data sets for actuarial data marts.
• Support monthly data refreshes, validations, and QA for financial reporting.
• Develop decision support data builds: medical and pharmacy claims, data extracts, reports.
• Provide data system guidance on definitions, file structures, and SQL logic.
• Identify best practices and implement them within the department.
• Analyze data, system problems, and incidents; propose solutions.
• Support senior team on business projects and non-project activities.
• Perform unit testing with sample data to validate SQL code.
• Provide ad hoc analytic support for projects to meet business goals.
• Document system/technical specs to ensure solutions are supported.
