Job summary

Triple-S Management Corp. is seeking an experienced actuary to compile data, perform analysis and provide recommendations for premiums, quotes and reserves across large groups and new products.

You will collaborate with Finance, Underwriting and Product Development to estimate costs, analyze claims trends and develop rating factors, with opportunities to influence Medicare Advantage and related lines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related discipline.
  • Must have approved at least one actuarial test sponsored by the Society of Actuaries.

Responsibilities

  • Apply mathematics, probability and statistics to financial analyses.
  • Compile data for variance, revenue forecasting and premium/membership trends.
  • Gathers and prepares actuarial analysis from internal/external sources.
  • Model, quantify, and value insurable risks for the company.
  • Draft reports with methods, assumptions and results under senior actuary supervision.
  • Extracts and validates data for applications and modeling reports.
  • Estimate financial outcomes via routine and ad hoc analyses.
  • Calculate premiums for large groups and products; estimate reserves.
  • Develop rating factors for community, merit, and experience groups.
  • Assist with rate development for Medicare Advantage and HMO capitation.
  • Analyze incurred claims and trend by coverage and line of business.
  • Collaborate with programmers, underwriters, Product Development, and management.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for compiling information, performing analysis and giving recommendations. Calculate premiums and ASO quotes for large new and renewing groups and new products. Estimate claims reserves and prepares reserve analysis, trend analysis, and the rating factors and formulas for community, merit, and experience groups. Estimate the cost impact of proposed changes to health plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability and statistics to complete tasks and demonstrates sound financial acumen during the process.
  • Compile statistical data for a variety of projects such as monitoring monthly variance analysis reports, revenue forecasting, identifying medical trends and performing premium and membership trend analysis.
  • Gathers and prepares actuarial analysis based on information from internal and external sources.
  • Model, quantify, and value insurable risks faced by our company.
  • Draft reports documenting the methods, assumptions and results of our work with direct supervision of senior actuaries within the company.
  • Extracts and validates data as needed for applications and modeling reports.
  • Performs both routine and ad hoc actuarial and statistical analyses to estimate financial outcomes.
  • Calculate premiums for large new and renewing groups, individual products, and new products,
  • Estimate claims reserves and prepare reserve analysis and trend analysis. Develop rating factors and formulas for community, merit, and experience groups.
  • Assist with rate development for Medicare Advantage and HMO capitation. Determine rating factors for merit and experience group rating.
  • Analyze incurred claims and trend by coverage and line of business.
  • Collaborate with programmers, underwriters, Product Development, and senior management to help develop plans for acquiring new business or improving existing business.
  • Estimate the cost impact of proposed changes.
  • Provide reporting and analytical support to Finance Division, Sales and Marketing Division and Underwriting Department.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or Statistics
EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related discipline degree level with strong Mathematical background.
  • Must have approved at least one actuarial test sponsored by the Society of Actuaries.
