Job summary

Centra Behavioral Health Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is opening a brand-new 72-bed behavioral health facility in Lynchburg, VA. We seek licensed therapists to provide evidence-based care in a compassionate setting, with salary hourly range posted.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, or Art Therapy and CPR plus CPI within 30 days. Exceptional teamwork and flexibility are essential for this role in a growing center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Music Therapy, or Art Therapy or related field.
• Current, unencumbered certification/license per state guidelines.
• CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days.
• Experience in a psychiatric health care setting preferred.
• Flexibility with hours, holidays, and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient needs considering cultural, religious, and disabilities for activity participation.
• Documents responses to interventions and tracks progress.
• Completes assessments within timeframes and supports workload balance.
• Forms initial and subsequent treatment plans with physician/licensed practitioner orders.
• Develops care plans with measurable goals and interventions.
• Delivers therapy procedures per plan and collaborates with patients to achieve outcomes.
• Maintains communication with the treatment team and physicians when treatment is not effective.

Centra Behavioral Health Hospital is a brand-new 72 bed behavioral health facility opening in 2026. We offer high-quality, compassionate care for a wide variety of patients in need. Our teams provide evidence-based, transformational care for a broad range of mental health concerns in a compassionate, comfortable environment.

How You'll Contribute

• Assesses patient needs utilizing cultural, religious, and physical disabilities, in the determination of capabilities in groups and with specific activities.
• Documents the patient's response to interventions pertinent to patient treatment on daily/weekly progress status, as appropriate.
• Completes all assessments within the time frame allotted and contributes to assessment workload balance between therapists.
• Formulates the initial and subsequent treatment programs in accordance with the attending physician's/licensed practitioner's treatment orders.
• Develops a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives, and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs.
• Provides therapy treatment procedures according to the treatments plan, communicate, and work with the patient to achieve the greatest benefit and resolution.
• Maintains constant communication with the treatment team, therapist, and physician/licensed practitioner when patient is not responding the treatments.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institute in Recreational Therapy (CTRS), Music Therapy (MT-BC, Art Therapy (ATR-P LPAT), or similar field. Additional requirements include:

• Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients, preferred.
• Current unencumbered certification/license/registration per state of practice guidelines.
• CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days.
• May be required to work flexible hours, holidays, and overtime.
