Job summary

Catholic Charities of New York is seeking an Activities Specialist to help participants grow artistically. The role centers on teaching and maintaining scheduled activities across arts, theater, music, dance, and poetry, and organizing exhibitions and performances for the program in New York City.

Part-time position with evenings Monday through Friday 5 pm–9 pm and some Saturdays. Requires a High School Diploma or GED; experience in creative arts and group instruction is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; AA/BA degree a plus.
• One year of experience in the field and knowledge in Creative Arts.
• Experience teaching or training individuals in group settings.
• Experience with lesson plan development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, teach, and maintain scheduled activities.
• Develop arts, theater, music, dance, and poetry.
• Organize exhibitions, performances, and poetry jams.
• Assist with recruitment and retention of participants.
• Maintain bulletin boards and produce event flyers.
• Coordinate program costumes for performances.
• Accompany participants on art, theater, and dance trips.
• Maintain daily attendance for courses.
• Submit weekly reports to the Program Director.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and events.
• Assist other staff when needed.

Summary:The Activities Specialist is responsible for helping participants grow artistically.

Hourly Rate: $18.00-$20.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for developing, teaching & maintaining scheduled Activities.
• Develop and maintain arts, theater, music, dance, and poetry.
• Organize and create art exhibitions, dance routines, theater presentations, music recitals, and poetry jams.
• Assist with the recruitment and retention of participants.
• Maintain site bulletin boards and produce flyers for events.
• Organize and create program performance costumes.
• Accompany participants on art, theater, and dance-related trips.
• Maintain daily attendance for all courses.
• Co-facilitate Parent Meetings.
• Ensure the cleanliness and presence of all the space used by the program participants. Responsible for keeping the Program Director informed of any changes and abnormalities that may occur.
• Submit weekly reports to the Program Director on a timely basis.
• Attend all program staff meetings, trainings, and special events.
• Assist other staff when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
