Job summary

Big Ideas Educational Services Inc. is seeking an Activity Leader to plan and lead enrichment activities for students in grades K–5, focusing on physical fitness, SEL, and hands-on learning. You will collaborate with site staff to support daily operations and communicate with families.

The role emphasizes creating a safe, engaging, and structured environment with age-appropriate activities and ongoing staff collaboration in a supportive after-school setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or higher is required.
  • 1–2 years of experience working with children in a group setting preferred.
  • Ability to lead group activities with energy, structure, and enthusiasm.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Patient, positive, and supportive approach to student learning and development.
  • Belief in the potential of all children and the ability to motivate students daily.
  • Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Model of integrity, ethics, and teamwork.
  • Completion of the mandatory 40‑hour Introductory Child Care Training.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and lead age-appropriate enrichment activities aligned with physical fitness, nutrition, social skills, and SEL goals.
  • Implement the Physical Fitness component, including fitness and conditioning activities and outdoor games.
  • Support academic and home-learning assistance as needed.
  • Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for students ages 5–12.
  • Maintain direct supervision of students at all times to ensure safety and positive behavior.
  • Redirect student behavior using positive guidance strategies.
  • Follow daily schedules related to enrichment activities (e.g., science, culture, art, recreation).
  • Assist with snack distribution, site setup, and daily shutdown procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Teachers and other site staff during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Participate in weekly and/or monthly staff meetings and trainings.
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding student participation and behavior.
  • Follow the established chain of command and all program policies and procedures.

Position Summary
