Job summary

Woodland Care and Rehab is seeking an Activity Director to organize and lead engaging activities for residents, coordinating schedules, events, and media submissions. You will collaborate with care teams to enhance resident well-being and participation.

Responsibilities include planning socials, coordinating volunteers, and working with referral sources while maintaining documentation and safety standards. This role requires flexibility for weekends and evenings.

Qualifications

• The activities program must be directed by a qualified professional with state licensure/registration where applicable.
• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Related experience with psychiatric patient care techniques is preferred.
• Current CPR and CAPE certifications required.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team member.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and families at all levels.
• Ability to react decisively in emergencies.
• Ability to lead group activities and engage residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
• Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
• Reliable, outgoing, and comfortable with elderly residents.
• Basic computer knowledge for patient information and electronic records.

• Plan and organize special activities for residents, including marketing events.

• Prepare special snacks with residents.
• Set up dining room tables for activities.
• Clean up after all activities.
• Complete required logs, charting and reporting timely.
• Keep activity areas clean, safe, and free from clutter.
• Assist residents to and from common areas per care plan.
• Work with residents to generate participation and attendance.
• Assist other departments as needed and required.
• Perform concierge duties as directed.
• Weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

Essential Functions of Activity Director:

Qualifications of Activity Director:

• The activities program must be directed by a qualified professional who- (i) Is a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who- (A) Is licensed or registered, if applicable, by the state in which practicing; and (B) Is eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990 or (ii) Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or (iii) Has completed a training course approved by the state.

• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full time in patient (resident) activities program in a healthcare setting is preferred

• Related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness is preferred

• Current CPR, CAPE certifications

• Must have current state driver's license with clean driving record

• Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization

• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations

• Ability to lead facilitated group activities, comfortable working with residents

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff

• Must be reliable, outgoing and enjoy being with the elderly

• Basic computer knowledge for implementation of patient/client information, electronic record keeping
