Continuing Healthcare Solutions in Ohio seeks a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional to plan, organize, develop, and direct the Activity Department in a nursing facility. The role requires leadership to ensure an ongoing engaging program aligned with residents’ well-being.

Two years in a social or recreation program in a healthcare setting is preferred, along with ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional licensed by the state, or have two years in a patient activities program in a health care setting.
• Marketing experience is a plus.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop and direct the Activity Department to meet residents’ wellbeing.
• Supervise staff and coordinate activities with other departments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local standards and regulations.

Experience and Skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions whencircumstances warrant such action.


• Must be knowledgeable of regulations governing activityservices in nursing care facilities. Must demonstrate theknowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate tothe age-related needs of the residents served.


• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel,residents, family members, visitors, governmentagencies/personnel and the general public.


• Must possess leadership ability and willingness to workharmoniously with and supervise other personnel.


• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition andenthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based onwhatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.


• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods andprinciples and be willing to incorporate them into existingactivity services.


• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.


• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety ofother individuals in the workplace.


• Must be able to complete all other duties as assigned by administrator or designee.

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or anactivities professional who is licensed by this state and iseligible for certification as recreation specialist or as anactivities professional: or Must have, as a minimum, two (2)years experience in a social or recreation program within thelast five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patientactivities program in a health care setting; or Must havecompleted a training course approved by this state.


• Marketing experience is preferred


• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand theEnglish language.

The primary purpose of this job position is to plan, organize,develop, and direct the overall operation of the ActivityDepartment in accordance with current federal, state, and localstandards, guidelines and regulations, or established policies andprocedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/orActivity consultant, to assure that an on-going program ofactivities is designed to meet, in accordance with thecomprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental,and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
