Job summary

A Joyful Adult Health Care Center L in Massachusetts is seeking an Activity Director to develop and supervise a full activity program for adults in our day care center, aiming to stimulate participants' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

The role involves creating schedules, integrating therapeutic activities, coordinating with the care team, and preparing for state inspections. Mandarin language skills are a plus; CPR/First Aid certification required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One or more years' therapeutic activity experience with adults in healthcare or social services.
• CPR and basic first aid certification required.
• Mandarin speaking is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive activity program meeting diverse participant needs.
• Develop monthly and daily schedules including exercise, music, crafts, games, and events.
• Incorporate therapeutic activities to support care plans (e.g., memory games, mobility exercises).
• Ensure activities are person-centered and culturally appropriate for all participants.
• Display a monthly calendar of activities and events in a central location.
• Plan special celebrations (holidays, birthdays, cultural festivals).
• Contribute to each participant's assessment and care plan.
• Record a therapeutic activity note at least every 90 days in health records.
• Prepare state inspections by keeping logs, schedules, and activity records up to date.

The Activity Director is responsible for developing, implementation and supervising a full scope of services in the adult day care center to stimulate customers to have fuller and richer lives. The Recreation Director is a member of the interdisciplinary and management team of the caring center.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement a comprehensive activity program that meets the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs of all participants.
2. Develop monthly and daily schedules including exercise, music, crafts, games, outings, and special events.
3. Incorporate therapeutic activities to support care plans (e.g., memory games for dementia, mobility exercises).
4. Ensure activities are person-centered, culturally appropriate, and adaptable for varying levels of ability
5. Display a monthly calendar of activities and events in a prominent location.
6. Plan special celebrations (holidays, birthdays, cultural festivals).
7. Contributing to each participant's comprehensive assessment and plan of care.
8. Record a therapeutic activity note at least once every 90 days, or more often if needed, in each participant's health record. This note should document their activity needs, participation, reactions, and current preferences, while also providing assistance with other services as required.
9. Prepare state inspections by keeping schedules, calendars, and activity logs up to date.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required
• Have one or more years' therapeutic activity experience working with adults in a healthcare or social-service setting.
• Be qualified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid.
• Mandarin speaking is preferred, but not required.
