Job summary

Qualifications

• ADC credential or completion of state-approved program.
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.
• State licensure/registration as applicable.
• At least 1 year of experience as Activities Director in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
• 2 years of experience conducting social or recreational programs within the past five years, including at least one year in a healthcare-based resident activities program.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for working with seniors.

Responsibilities

• Lead resident activities: plan, organize, and implement engaging daily activities, recreational programs, and special events that support residents' social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical well-being.
• Create a diverse activity calendar featuring arts and crafts, music, games, religious services, educational programs, community outings, and special celebrations.
• Personalize resident engagement by getting to know each resident's interests, hobbies, preferences, abilities, and individual needs.
• Coordinate life enrichment programs: provide group and one-on-one activities for varying abilities.
• Build community connections: coordinate events and programs with families, staff, volunteers, and community organizations.
• Support resident care planning: complete activity assessments, MDS documentation, CAAs, and individualized activity care plans.
• Encourage participation: find creative ways to keep residents socially connected and engaged.
• Maintain compliance: ensure activities align with care plans and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

• Lead Resident Activities: Plan, organize, and implement engaging daily activities, recreational programs, and special events that support residents' social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical well-being.
• Create Meaningful Experiences: Develop a diverse activity calendar featuring arts and crafts, music, games, religious services, educational programs, community outings, and special celebrations.
• Personalize Resident Engagement: Get to know each resident's interests, hobbies, preferences, abilities, and individual needs to create meaningful opportunities for participation.
• Coordinate Life Enrichment Programs: Provide both group and one-on-one activities that accommodate residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
• Build Community Connections: Coordinate events and programs that bring together residents, families, staff, volunteers, and community organizations.
• Support Resident Care Planning: Complete activity assessments, MDS documentation, Care Area Assessments (CAAs), and individualized activity care plans.
• Encourage Participation: Find creative ways to help residents stay socially connected, active, involved, and engaged in everyday life.
• Maintain Compliance: Ensure activities are appropriate to residents' care plans, physician-approved precautions, and applicable regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Certified Activity Director (ADC) credential or completion of a state-approved Activity Director training program.
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field preferred/required as applicable to credentialing requirements.
• Appropriate state or national licensure/registration, as applicable.
• At least one year of experience as an Activities Director in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
• Two years of experience conducting social or recreational programs within the past five years, including at least one year of full-time experience in a healthcare-based resident activities program.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine passion for working with seniors and creating meaningful resident experiences.
