The role collaborates with interdisciplinary teams in long-term, sub-acute, and memory care settings, supervising activities staff and volunteers, coordinating calendars, and planning care-focused activity plans.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in recreational therapy or similar degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience in activities/recreation in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in long-term care or similar healthcare settings is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop activities suitable and enjoyable for residents.
  • Manage attendance, safety guidelines, and emergencies.
  • Oversee Activities Assistants and volunteers to maintain a full activities calendar.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate activity programs.
  • Develop monthly activity program calendars and written plans of care.
  • Participate in discharge planning and activity care plans.
  • Schedule programs and organize parties and games for residents.
  • Encourage participation in daily living activities.

As an Activities Director, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our community. Your creativity and passion for engaging individuals will shine as you develop and implement dynamic programs that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our residents. You’ll foster an environment that promotes social interaction, physical activity, and emotional well-being, ensuring that every day is filled with joy and purpose.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality support to the resident and families, work with other members of the interdisciplinary team, and ensure that residents receive the best possible treatment in a variety of settings, including long term care, sub-acute care, and memory care. This role requires strong skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to resident-centered care.

Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

  • Develops activities that are suitable and enjoyable to the residents.

  • Responsible for all aspects of preparation for activities, including taking attendance, ensuring facility rules are followed, informing participants of safety guidelines and managing incidents of conflict or medical emergencies.

  • Oversees the Activities Assistants, as well as any volunteers, to ensure that the residents have a well-rounded and complete activities calendar.

  • Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activity programs of the facility.

  • Developing and planning the monthly program calendar.

  • Developing a written plan of care for each resident's activity program.

  • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.

  • Implement activity procedures as directed by the Activity Director.

  • Scheduling programs, planning parties and providing games/activities for residents.

  • Encourage residents to participate in activities of daily living that will stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally socially and spiritually.

  • All other duties as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE:

  • Activity Assistant : 2 years (Preferred)

  • SNF / LTC : 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:
  • Activity Director Certified (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
SKILLS:
  • Qualified candidates will have an associate degree in recreational therapy or similar degree.

  • At least 2 years of experience working with Activities/Recreation in a long-term care or other healthcare setting.

  • Previous management experience is also a plus.

  • Candidates should show evidence of creativity, organizational skills and cheerful personality.

  • Previous experience in long-term care or other healthcare settings is a plus.

  • Experience working with Alzheimer's/Dementia patients a plus.

  • Experience in Long Term Care.

  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding employee, resident and company proprietary information.

  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels.

  • Must possess computer skills of the types and at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

  • Knowledge of HIPPA, and state and federal regulations.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
