Job summary

Franklin Park Boerne in Boerne, TX, is seeking an activities professional to design and lead a comprehensive program of recreational, intellectual, psycho-social and spiritual activities for residents.

You will collaborate with the Director of Life Enrichment to document histories, calendars, coordinate entertainers, and organize events, while modeling person-centered care and supporting self-directed activities.

Qualifications

• An upbeat, engaging personality.
• Formal training in therapeutic recreation or activities.
• Minimum two years’ experience in health care or elder community.
• Flexible schedule and willingness to work hard to achieve excellence.
• Certification by an accrediting body such as the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation or the National Association of Activity Professionals is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a comprehensive program of recreational, intellectual, psycho-social and spiritual activities
• Lead activities as needed, from brain fitness games to tea parties
• Create printed monthly calendars and newsletters
• Actively facilitate and model person-centered care, including the incorporation of activities of daily living into structured programming; support residents in self-directed/solo activities and in assuming leadership roles
• Complete resident personal histories, and maintain these documents along with activity participation records
• Arrange for entertainers, speakers and other outside service providers
• Organize special events and outings, handling details such as decorating, purchasing advance tickets, recruiting volunteers, planning refreshments with food and beverage director, etc.
