Job summary

Threading Joy and Connection is seeking an Activity Assistant/Van Driver to support our Engagement Director in delivering engaging programs for residents. You will help design activities that support physical, intellectual and emotional well-being while ensuring safe van transport to appointments and events.

The role emphasizes connectivity with seniors, creativity in planning, and dependable transportation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; related coursework in recreation, gerontology, or related areas is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate a passenger van safely and responsibly.
  • Love connecting with seniors and naturally get along with them.
  • Be creative and able to plan and lead activities that suit different interests and abilities.
  • Organize things well and pay attention to details.
  • Communicate effectively and be kind.
  • Be flexible to work different shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Know basic computer skills for documenting and communicating.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Engagement Director to plan and run a variety of activities, like exercise programs, sessions, art projects, trips, spiritual gatherings, and events with speakers and music.
  • Connect with residents personally to tailor activities to their interests and needs.
  • Safely transport residents to and from appointments, outings, and community events.
  • Help plan trips outside the community and ensure residents are safe and happy.
  • Create a warm and inclusive environment where residents can make friends and discover new interests.
  • Keep records of participation and feedback to improve programs.
  • Share creative ideas to keep programs exciting and aligned with seniors' preferences.
  • Ensure the comfort and well-being of passengers during transit.
  • Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van safely.

Sunday 9am-3pm, Monday 9am-5pm and Wednesday 9am-5pm

Comfortable driving a 15 passenger van required

Activity Assistant Job Summary

As an Activity Assistant, you'll work with the Engagement Director to make our residents' lives more enjoyable with fun and engaging activities.
