Job summary

Belvedere Senior Housing in Merrillville, IN seeks an engaging Activity Coordinator to support residents through transportation, admission interviews, and daily activity participation. The role emphasizes compassionate interaction and program evaluation to meet resident needs.

You will plan newsletters, coordinate with resident councils, and arrange shopping for residents unable to shop themselves, while maintaining inventory and pursuing ongoing learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Prefer candidates 21+ with a clean driving record.
• Experience driving a company vehicle for resident transport preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive the company van for resident transportation as needed.
• Interview residents on admission to learn preferences.
• Document daily participation in activities.
• Plan and maintain inventory of activity equipment and supplies.
• Evaluate and adjust the activity program to residents’ needs.
• Plan and coordinate the community newsletter.
• Coordinate with resident council for input on activities.

Job Details: Job Location: Belvedere Senior Housing - Merrillville, IN 46410, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly, Job Shift: 1st shift

Responsibilities

• Drives company van on organized outings, as needed
• Interviews residents upon admission to determine their likes and dislikes
• Documents the resident’s participation in activities daily
• Plans and maintains an inventory list of activity equipment and supplies
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of the resident’s activity program and, as necessary, modifies the program to meet the resident’s needs and interests
• Plans and coordinates the Community newsletter
• Coordinates with the resident council to ensure resident input into the activity program
• Coordinates resident shopping orders for those unable to shop independently
• Engages with residents in a compassionate and impactful manner, cultivating a warm and supportive environment where the values of love, compassion, and dignity are reflected in every interaction
• Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities through attendance and participation in educational seminars, staff meetings, and other learning experiences

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Must hold valid driver’s license
• A minimum of 21 years of age preferred with driving record in good standing
• Prior experience driving a company vehicle for resident transportation activities is preferred
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
