Job summary

Green Oaks of Valparaiso in Valparaiso, IN is seeking a Full Time Activities Assistant to support residents through transportation, engagement, and daily activity documentation. You will conduct interviews at admission to learn resident preferences and help plan meaningful outings.

You will maintain activity equipment inventories, coordinate with resident councils, and help publish the community newsletter.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience driving a company vehicle is preferred.

Salary Range: $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly

Job Shift: 1st shift

Responsibilities

• Drives company van on organized outings, as needed
• Interviews residents upon admission to determine their likes and dislikes
• Documents the resident’s participation in activities daily
• Plans and maintains an inventory list of activity equipment and supplies
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of the resident’s activity program and, as necessary, modifies the program to meet the resident’s needs and interests
• Plans and coordinates the Community newsletter
• Coordinates with the resident council to ensure resident input into the activity program
• Coordinates resident shopping orders for those unable to shop independently
• Engages with residents in a compassionate and impactful manner, cultivating a warm and supportive environment where the values of love, compassion, and dignity are reflected in every interaction
• Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities through attendance and participation in educational seminars, staff meetings, and other learning experiences

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Must hold valid driver’s license
• A minimum of 21 years of age preferred with driving record in good standing
• Prior experience driving a company vehicle for resident transportation activities is preferred
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
