Job summary

Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton, NJ is seeking a compassionate Activity Assistant to support the Life Enrichment Team. This part-time role runs Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offering meaningful engagement for residents and opportunities to contribute to their emotional well-being.

Responsibilities include planning and leading activities, promoting socialization, assisting with events, and coordinating with nursing staff to meet resident needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Experience in long-term care, social services, or activities is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.
• Compassionate, dependable and team-oriented.
• Ability to work Monday–Friday with possible evenings/weekends for events.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and carrying out recreational and therapeutic activities for residents under the Activity Director.
• Engage residents in group and one-on-one programs to promote socialization and well-being.
• Encourage participation based on interests and care plans.
• Help set up, transport, and escort residents to activities safely.
• Provide support during outings and special events.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and activity areas in a clean, organized manner.
• Document attendance, participation, and responses to activities.
• Communicate needs and preferences to nursing staff and team.

Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Activity Assistant to join our Life Enrichment Team in Trenton, NJ. This unique opportunity allows you to make a difference with our residents, supporting their emotional well-being and enhancing their daily lives through meaningful engagement.

This is a part-time position working Monday-Friday 4:00PM - 8:00PM.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in long-term care, social services, or activities is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends or evenings for special events

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, organizing, and carrying out recreational and therapeutic activities for residents under the direction of the Activity Director
• Engage residents in group and one-on-one programs to promote socialization, physical movement, and overall well-being
• Encourage residents to participation in activities based on individual interests, abilities, and care plans
• Help set up, transport, and escort residents to and from activity programs safely
• Provide support during outing, special events, and holiday celebrations
• Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and program areas in a clean and organized manner
• Document resident attendance, participation levels, and responses to activities as directed
• Communicate with nursing staff and other team members regarding resident needs and preferences
