Job summary

Canyon View Care Center in Colorado is seeking an Activities Specialist to plan, implement and evaluate recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs in line with each resident's care plan.

You will support residents through group or one-to-one activities, coordinate with the Activity Director, and ensure a welcoming, well-organized activity space while upholding residents' rights and maintaining a positive atmosphere.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' experience in a related position, healthcare environment preferred.
• Aptitude for and/or some training in arts and crafts.

Responsibilities

• Respects and upholds residents' rights and property, knocking before entering rooms.
• Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists and/or conducts assigned activity programs according to the calendar.
• Moves and arranges equipment to ready activity areas for scheduled activities.
• Helps residents move to and from activity programs as needed.
• Returns activity materials to proper places and maintains a tidy atmosphere in the activity room.
• Assists Activity Director in developing the schedule for activities and distributes monthly calendars.
• Follows the care plan to provide daily activities for residents.

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational social, intellectual emotional and spiritual programs in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Respects and upholds all residents' personal and property rights whenever carrying out duties, including knocking before entering a resident's room.
• Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists and/or conducts assigned group or one-to-one activity programs according to calendar.
• Moves and arranges equipment/supplies to assure that activity areas are ready for scheduled activity.
• Assists residents move to and from activity programs as needed.
• Is responsible for returning all activity department materials to their proper place in a timely manner and maintaining a tidy, pleasant atmosphere in activity room.
• Assists Activity Director in developing schedule for activities, distributes monthly activity calendars to residents and posts changes to calendar according to state and federal regulations.
• Follows resident care plan in providing daily activities for residents.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience in related position, in healthcare environment preferred
• Aptitude for and/or some training in arts and crafts required
• High school diploma or equivalent desirable
