Job summary

Harmony Pointe Nursing Center in Lakewood, CO seeks an Activities Specialist to help plan, implement, and evaluate social and recreational programs for residents.

The role requires 1–2 years in healthcare, an arts-and-crafts aptitude, and a high school diploma. You will work with the Activity Director to deliver person-centered activities in a compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' experience in a related position in a healthcare environment.
• Aptitude for and/or some training in arts and crafts.
• High school diploma or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respects and upholds residents' rights; knock before entering rooms.
• Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists and/or conducts group or one-to-one activity programs according to the calendar.
• Moves and arranges equipment to keep activity areas ready for scheduled activities.
• Assists residents moving to and from activity programs as needed.
• Returns materials to proper place and maintains a tidy activity room.
• Assists Activity Director in developing the schedule and monthly calendars.
• Follows the care plan when providing daily activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational social, intellectual emotional and spiritual programs in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Respects and upholds all residents' personal and property rights whenever carrying out duties, including knocking before entering a resident's room.
• Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists and/or conducts assigned group or one-to-one activity programs according to calendar.
• Moves and arranges equipment/supplies to assure that activity areas are ready for scheduled activity.
• Assists residents move to and from activity programs as needed.
• Is responsible for returning all activity department materials to their proper place in a timely manner and maintaining a tidy, pleasant atmosphere in activity room.
• Assists Activity Director in developing schedule for activities, distributes monthly activity calendars to residents and posts changes to calendar according to state and federal regulations.
• Follows resident care plan in providing daily activities for residents.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience in related position, in healthcare environment preferred
• Aptitude for and/or some training in arts and crafts required
• High school diploma or equivalent desirable
