Job summary

Sprenger Health Care of Bluffton is seeking an Activities Professional to plan, schedule and implement activity programs for residents, both individually and in groups, based on their needs and interests.

You will staff the activities department, participate in resident care conferences as part of the interdisciplinary team, and maintain documentation of resident progress and engagement. Licensure or certification in therapeutic recreation, or related health care experience, is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed or registered by the state in which practicing.
• Certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body (on or after Oct 1, 1990).
• OR 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, 1 year full-time in a patient activities program in a healthcare setting.
• OR Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
• OR Has completed a state-approved training course.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and implement a program of individual and group activities based on residents’ needs and interests.
• Staff the activities department including scheduling, adhering to budgeted hours, budgeting, and hiring/training new employees.
• Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team attending resident care conferences and integrating the recreation plan into the total resident care plan.
• Maintain departmental documentation reflecting services provided and resident progress (progress notes, participation records, one-to-one records, etc.).
• Develop and communicate facility programs with residents, staff, family and volunteers.

Education

Licensed or registered by the State in which practicing

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional

Two years of experience in a social or recreational program (last 5 years)

Qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant

State-approved training course completed

Qualifications
