Job summary

St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham, MA is seeking an energetic Activities Assistant - Life Enrichment for the Specialty Dementia Unit. This part‑time role offers per diem pay and involves coordinating activities, arts and crafts, and resident engagement for our dementia unit.

Responsibilities include planning programs, interviewing residents, assisting assessments, and transportation of residents to activities. English proficiency and a willingness to obtain certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with arts and crafts in a nursing home.
• Activities Assistant Certification or willingness to be certified within 6 months (at employer expense).
• Computer literate with training on entering resident care plan codes (MDS).
• Must be able to speak, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing and implementing the activities programs of the facility.
• Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.
• Assist the Activity Director with preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the activity needs of each resident.
• Review and report on resident assessments.
• Develop and maintain a good rapport with all services involved with the care plan.
• Encourage social communication among residents through group activities and recreation.
• Encourage residents to participate in hobbies and crafts; provide materials as necessary.
• Assists in the transportation of residents to activities.

• Computer literate with training on entering resident care plan codes (MDS), preferred.
• Must be able to speak, write and understand English.
• Bending, standing, sitting, lifting, walking and moving intermittently during working hours.
• Must assist in the evacuation of residents as necessary.
• May need to lift serving trays of up to 30 pounds.
