Activities Assistant Part Time (Healthcare)

Join our team! We are seeking a part-time/on-call Activities Assistant. The position requires availability in the evenings, on weekends, and during the day. Pay rate is $18.00/hour.

Responsibilities include:

1. Participating in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities.
2. Assisting in effective communication between staff, residents, families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet residents' and community needs.
3. Contributing to community planning related to the facility's interests and residents' needs.
4. Developing monthly activity calendars and maintaining attendance records.
5. Supporting the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in addressing quality deficiencies as directed by the Activities Director.
6. Participating in discharge planning, developing and implementing activity care plans, and conducting resident assessments.
7. Arranging transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges.
8. Creating a monthly schedule of activities, including outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents.
9. Encouraging residents to engage in hobbies, crafts, reading, and other self-initiated activities, providing materials such as Braille or audio books as needed.
10. Assisting with documentation, including quarterly progress notes.
11. Maintaining a clean, organized, and secure Activity Department.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical procedures, policies, and manuals.
• Effective communication skills to present information and respond to inquiries.
• Mathematical skills to apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret instructions in various formats.

Physical Demands include frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Good visual perception is required.

Work Environment: Typically low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
