Job summary

The Village of St. Edward is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to compassionate care for the elderly in Fairlawn. The Activities Assistant supports residents through meaningful programs, recreation and spiritual activities, contributing to a warm, community-focused environment.

Part-time 24 hours per week, 8:00a-4:30p, weekend and some holidays may be required. The role offers competitive wages, PTO, tuition reimbursement and an Employee Assistance Program as part of a supportive benefits

Qualifications

• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
• Must possess strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and work weekends/evenings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing, directing and carrying out a program of activities for residents.
• Provide activities aimed at spiritual development, recreation and education.
• Plan and implement programs suited to the needs of older adults on campus.
• Collaborate with the Activities Department to create engaging resident life experiences.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Activities Assistant assists in organizing, directing and carrying out a program of activities which covers spiritual development, recreation, diversion, intellectual/educational development for residents as an integral part of total resident care.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Walk, stand and sit intermittently during the day.
• Availability to work on weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
• Occasionally works with animals
• Must have an understanding of the social, psychological and recreational needs of older adults on a continuum of care campus and must be able to plan and organize activities geared to these needs.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm and must be able to work effectively with people.
• Must possess strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have reliable transportation
