Job summary

Normandy Nursing Center in Missouri is seeking a dedicated Activities Assistant for full-time shifts to support residents with daily living activities, engagement, and mobility within the center. You will respond to signals, assist with grooming and feeding, and help residents maintain comfort and dignity.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, clear communication with residents and family members, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to enhance resident well-being.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or preferred.
• CNA certification required.
• Must pass a state-issued CNA exam.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their families.

Responsibilities

• Answers signal lights and bells to determine resident needs.
• Assist Activities Supervisor with daily activities and obtaining supplies.
• Assists residents with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair and incontinence care.
• Obtains food trays and assists residents with feeding.
• Assists residents with range of motion exercises and personal care.
• Communicates changes in residents' condition to the nursing team.

Essential Functions of Activities Assistant:

• Answers signal lights and bells to determine resident needs

• Assist Activites Supervisor with daily activities and help to obtain supplies

• Assists residents with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair and incontinence care

• Obtains food trays and assists residents with feeding

• Assists resident with range of motion exercises

• Provides for personal care and comfort

• Movement to wheelchair or activity areas

• Assists residents with ambulation for short distance in center

• Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed

• Provides direct and indirect resident care services

• Meets the communication needs of resident and family

• Communicates to nursing team changes in residents clinical condition

• Performs other tasks as assigned

Qualifications of Activities Assistant:

• High School diploma or general equivalency is preferred.

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)required

• Must pass a state-issued exam

• Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.

• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and facility staff
