Job summary

Normandy Nursing Center is seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Activities Assistants. This full-time role supports residents with daily activities, personal care, and mobility, while assisting the Activities Supervisor with supplies and events.

We offer competitive pay based on experience, PTO after 30 days, holidays with premium pay, tuition reimbursement, and a 401(k) plan with employer contributions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must pass a state-issued exam.
• Maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergencies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and families.

Responsibilities

• Answers signal lights and bells to determine resident needs.
• Assist Activities Supervisor with daily activities and supplies.
• Assist residents with grooming, hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
• Record vital signs and monitor intake as directed.
• Provide direct and indirect resident care and comfort.
• Communicate changes in residents’ condition to nursing team.

Essential Functions of Activities Assistant:

• Answers signal lights and bells to determine resident needs
• Assist Activites Supervisor with daily activities and help to obtain supplies
• Assists residents with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair and incontinence care
• Obtains food trays and assists residents with feeding
• Assists resident with range of motion exercises
• Provides for personal care and comfort
• Movement to wheelchair or activity areas
• Assists residents with ambulation for short distance in center
• Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed
• Provides direct and indirect resident care services
• Meets the communication needs of resident and family
• Communicates to nursing team changes in residents clinical condition
• Performs other tasks as assigned

Qualifications of Activities Assistant:

• High School diploma or general equivalency is preferred.
• Must pass a state-issued exam
• Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and facility staff
