- Occasional travel may be required for off-site resident outings and community events.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or completion of at least two years of college coursework is preferred.
General Job Knowledge
- Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, use of equipment and Hospital and departmental policies necessary for job performance.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement person-centered programs, fostering engagement and independence. Familiarity with recreational therapy practices is advantageous.
- Create and manage weekly and monthly activity programs that are engaging and promote independence.
- Evaluate therapeutic programs to ensure they reflect residents' backgrounds, participation, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity, and related skills.
- Provide one-to-one activities for residents who are uncomfortable participating in group activities.
- Supervise volunteers for in-house activities and community outings.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong empathy and compassion for elderly residents.
- Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with team members.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Tech-savvy with experience in smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, and home entertainment devices.
