Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine's Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an Activities Assistant to develop engaging, person-centered programs for residents. You will guide residents in using technology, coordinate weekly and monthly activities, and supervise volunteers to support both in-house and community outings.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with preferred associate degree, strong empathy, excellent communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and smart

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or two years of college coursework is preferred.
  • Experience with group activities is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement person-centered programs, fostering engagement and independence.
  • Create and manage weekly and monthly activity programs that are engaging and promote independence.
  • Evaluate therapeutic programs to reflect residents’ backgrounds, abilities, interests, and cognitive capacity.
  • Provide one-to-one activities for residents uncomfortable with group activities.
  • Supervise volunteers for in-house activities and community outings.
